LEGO’s Pick a Brick now carries the minifig parts from the Ancient Moon-Gazing Inn, the beautiful Asian-themed set that came out last June. It has 9 minifigs with new prints, and I picked up most of them. For this batch, I only used a few of those parts as starting points to build these 5 characters.

Most of the new parts I used are torsos and dress slopes, while the heads, hair, and legs came from my collection and accessories from my shop, Minifig Realms.

These new arrivals add a multicultural layer to the kingdom of Egloron and cement it as the realm’s most cosmopolitan city. Here’s the cast, with a parts list and links for each.

Note: the links go to BrickLink because LEGO will pull these parts from Pick a Brick when the set retires. Here’s where to find them on PAB while they last.

Monk

He’s my favorite of the batch. The moment I saw that torso, the sash and scroll read as monk to me.

I tried several dual-molded legs before landing on dark red ones from the Monkey King CMF, which bring some ornate detail of their own. A few hairpieces would have worked here, but the Spider-Verse one hadn’t been used yet, so it got the job.

The casts are fun as wrapped hands, though they rule out staves and pole weapons, so he’s strictly a hands-only fighter.

Wise Wizard

forehead marked wizard

Su Dongpu’s robe makes it a fantastic base for a wizard. I originally wanted to make him a high elf, but the very limited elf ear parts were already used in other minifigs, so he’s human. The gold detail on his forehead does the rest, giving him a touch of magic.

Green Druid

As soon as I saw the leaf details on this torso, I knew I had to pair it with a Leaf Cape from Minifig Realms. The sand green printed skirt from Pick a Brick was a lucky find, and it pretty much paid off. It’s not a perfect fit but close enough.

The finishing touch is the Staff of the Woodlands, a small MOC I found on Rebrickable (because my own brick-built accessory skills need help).

Herbalist

green bandana rogue

The leaf print on the torso is meant to be tea leaves, so I leaned into it and made an herbalist. The hair and bandana element is a One Piece part I found at a BAM station one day (LEGO Store staff sometimes drop set parts in there), and the color matched perfectly.

The Ninjago legs have a nice wrapped legs detail but also a blue sash around the hips that didn’t match, so I covered them with a Minifig Realms skirt. The skirt still allows some of those wrapped legs to peek through.

Shepherd

green farmer

He’s built on the same configuration as the herbalist, but with a sand green slouch cap I dug out of my parts bin. The cap pushed him straight toward a shepherd, so I gave him an dark orange beard and a calm expression to match his vibes.

The Whole Look

If you want to see the minifigs from all angles, I made a video with 360-degree spins:

Where to get the parts

Head to Pick a Brick to get the Ancient Moon-Gazing Inn parts, then to BrickLink for the rest, if they’re not already in your collection. The fabric accessories are from my shop, Minifig Realms, however, the Leaf Cape is a seasonal item only available in the fall. If you miss out, no worries, they’ll be back next fall and sometimes a new color variant appears in the spring.
