Each month, I take a look back at the 10 highest-rated photos shared on r/studshooters, a community dedicated to LEGO and brick toy photography. While LEGO naturally dominates, photographers using other brick-compatible brands are just as welcome. Since the rankings are determined by community upvotes, this is a showcase of the images that resonated most with fellow photographers.
To keep the roundup varied, I only feature one photo per photographer, even if someone earned multiple spots in the top rankings.
This month was dominated by photos with brick-built environments. It’s wonderful to be transported into worlds built by people! We also saw some amazing action shots and great storytelling. Just great work all around!
This month, Stud Shooters grew by another 600 members, bringing the community to 5,800 toy photographers. It’s great to see LEGO photography continuing to grow beyond Instagram and finding a thriving home on Reddit as well.
Meanwhile, the LEGO Photography Bootcamp has reached Week 11 of 12. After spending the past ten weeks understanding composition, storytelling, and lighting, participants are now diving into photo editing. If you’re just getting started or want to sharpen your photography skills, you can still join the guided 12-week course and work through the earlier challenges at your own pace. I’ll provide feedback on the current week’s challenge, so there’s always a place to jump in.
